Sky Airlines

Sky Airlines is a Chilean airline, and this is the current generation of its booking platform: the one I led as Tech Lead from 2023 to 2025, built from the ground up with a micro-frontend architecture on Vue 3. It succeeded the Vue 2 and Radixx platform I had worked on as a Full-Stack Developer from 2021, which has its own page as Sky Airlines Legacy. The platform handles real-time flight search, fare selection by date, seat selection, extras such as baggage, passenger details and the booking flow, all integrated with the Sabre GDS.

As Tech Lead, working remotely for the airline in Santiago, I was responsible for defining the overall architecture and coordinating the frontend team, with a particular focus on the flight search and seat selection flows, which are the most performance-sensitive and user-critical parts of the experience.

My work spanned three independent micro-apps orchestrated via Single-SPA, each communicating with dedicated NestJS microservices through a combination of REST APIs and RabbitMQ messaging. Splitting the booking journey this way lets each micro-app change and deploy on its own while the Single-SPA shell keeps the experience whole. Docker orchestrated the microservices, and Storybook centralizes the frontend components shared across the entire Sky Airlines ecosystem, so the same building blocks look and behave the same in every flow.

The stack: Vue 3 with Pinia on the frontend, Single-SPA as the shell, NestJS and Express.js services in TypeScript, RabbitMQ between them, Docker for the services and Storybook for the shared component library, all on top of Sabre.

I led the platform through to delivery and closed my run in 2025, when I moved on to Qu. It is still in production today, selling seats every day, and the gallery shows it live: the search, outbound flight selection, baggage and extras, and passenger details.
